Hampshire garden visits

11.00am: Bentworth Lodge, near Alton, Hampshire, GU34 5JS. Rosemary Andreae has redesigned the long classic English herbaceous borders of her impressive garden. In addition it features Victorian topiary, sweeping lawns, a 120 ft old rose border backed by a pergola of climbing and rambling roses, plus old and modern roses surrounding a fishpond, banks of contrasting rose favourites and a modern HT border.
Lunch can be taken in a nearby country pub.
2.30pm: The Deane House, Sparsholt, near Winchester, Hampshire, SO21 2LR. Mr and Mrs Morse’s spacious garden is on several levels, with wonderful views onto the countryside. Walled garden with many roses, magnificent copper beech and tulip trees, plus stained glass and modern water features. Afternoon tea served in the house.
Cost for the day: £20 per person.
