Tour of gardens in the Lyonnais region of France
Saturday 11 May - Friday 17 May
Day 1 – Sat 11 May: Arrival and check in 2pm-7pm at Hotel Charlemagne, 23 Cours Charlemagne, Lyon, 69002, France
7.30pm: Welcome drink and dinner in the hotel
Day 2 – Sun 12 May: Morning: visit Domaine de la Croix -Laval at Charbonnières, with its 3000+ roses.
Afternoon: visit Jardin de L’Hermitage at St Genis, the garden of Marc and Margot de Sereys, with over 600 roses amongst perennials and shrubs.
Day 3 – Mon 13 May: Visit the historic botanical Lyon rose garden, Parc de la Tête d’Or.
Dinner at Brasserie Georges, a mythic Lyon restaurant.
Day 4 – Tues 14 May: Morning: visit La Palette des Couleurs garden, Chabeuil
Afternoon: visit medieval Chateau Grignan, linked to Madame de Sévigné. 400 roses grow scattered through the historical village.
Day 5 – Wed 15 May: Morning: visit the garden of La Bonne Maison, created by the well-known rosarian Odile Masquelier, founder of Roses anciennes en France.
Afternoon: guided tour of historical Lyon then free time.
Day 6 – Thurs 16 May: Morning: visit the private Jardin de la Rejonière, Ternand, with its many roses and perennials.
Afternoon: visit a private garden at Sarcey. Cellar visit and Beaujolais wine tasting.
Day 7 – Fri 17 May: Departures.
All-inclusive price: Per person sharing: Euros 1380. Single supplement: Euros 270
This covers 4 days half board including wine at meals, based in Hotel Charlemagne, and 2 nights B&B, all entrances and coach transport, and an English-speaking guide. The hotel is a very short distance from Lyon Perrache railway station, which has a Eurostar TGV link from London St Pancras and a link from Lyon airport.
