The Deane House – near Winchester
The Deane House, Sparsholt, near Winchester, SO2 1LR
Mr and Mrs Morse’s spacious garden is on several levels, with wonderful views onto the countryside. There is a walled garden with many roses, magnificent copper beech and tulip trees, plus stained glass and modern water features. Further interest is provided by the connection with Jane Austin, whose friends the Harwoods lived here. Jane visited often and spoke of it in her letters. The church is also interesting: when it was rebuilt in 1818 Coade Stone was extensively used. You can find further information at https://ngs.org.uk/gardens/the-deane-house-so2/
