Two Gardens in Fife

Wednesday 26 June - Thursday 27 June

Arrangements have been confirmed for the HRG visits to two gardens in Fife at the end of June.

Cambo House

26 June – Cambo House: On Wednesday 26th June a visit has been arranged to the garden of Cambo House, Kingsbarns in Fife, starting at 2.00 pm. The large walled garden at Cambo holds a significant collection of old roses along with more recent introductions. The collection of climbing roses has been a particular feature for many years, but the garden also displays a range of herbaceous planting.

Wemyss Castle

Wemyss Castle

27 June – Wemyss Castle
On the following day, Thursday 27th June, the group will visit the gardens of Wemyss Castle, overlooking the Firth of Forth between the villages of East and West Wemyss also in Fife, again commencing at 2.00 pm. The six acre walled garden dates from the 17th Century and was formerly a productive site and includes heated walls for vines and fruit. Over the past 30 years it has been transformed into a pleasure garden with clematis in early summer and an extensive display of roses in mid summer. The Cambo visit will be introduced and guided by the head gardener Katherine, and Charlotte Wemyss will initially take us round the immense walled garden at Wemyss Castle.

The charge for Cambo will be £15 for members and £20 for friends, whilst that for Wemyss will be £20 and £25.

Whilst these visits are held on consecutive days no arrangements have been made for overnight accommodation as it has previously proved too difficult to meet the range of requirements and travel plans. The Stables Visitor Centre at Cambo is, however, available for a light lunch if required before that visit; and the afternoon at Wemyss will conclude with light refreshments with our host.

Early confirmation of your intention to join these visits would be appreciated. Cheques should be made payable to Historic Roses Group (Scotland) and sent to:
