Cuttings day at Carolside

Once again, Mrs Rose Foyle has kindly agreed to host a day for HRG members to visit Carolside near Lauder in the Scottish Borders to take cuttings from the roses in her extensive collections.

The date of 22 November is around a month later than that of last year’s exercise. Whilst the general lack of success then may be attributable in part to the very cold subsequent winter and spring, this year’s timing should ensure fully hardened material for cuttings. We plan to try to propagate some of the rarer varieties in the collection to create a dispersed reserve, as well as give members an opportunity to acquire roses that might not be easily obtained otherwise.

Because of the lateness in the year, the day will start at 11am.
