The Storyteller Garden
Lecture by Martin Stott
At the end of the last ice age it is estimated that Britain had no more than 200 or so types of plant. It means that nearly everything growing in our gardens today has travelled or been created relatively recently. Each plant has a story to tell, and some of these tales might surprise you.
In this talk Martin will explain the concept of “the storyteller garden” and inspire you to look at your plants with a fresh perspective. Expect plenty of rose stories, but he might also squeeze in some other tales too – in the words of the BBC mission, “inform, educate and entertain”.
For many years Martin travelled the world looking for stories to share with BBC World Service and Radio 4 listeners – he made programmes in 21 countries and all corners of the world. Today, he need only step outside his back garden for inspiration.
